Last updated: 7 May 2026
These terms are written to be clear and practical for Leaving The Nest users. They should be read together with the Privacy Policy and the LifeNest AI Terms & Privacy Details.
Important points
- Leaving The Nest helps with planning, budgeting, tasks, notes, documents, resources, news, and LifeNest AI guidance.
- The service does not replace emergency help, professional advice, safeguarding support, medical care, counselling, legal advice, financial advice, or regulated services.
- You are responsible for checking important information before relying on it and for keeping your account secure.
- Premium features, subscriptions, refunds, and app-store payments may also be controlled by Google Play or another payment provider.
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Service explain the rules that apply when you access or use Leaving The Nest, including the mobile app, website, account features, support tools, content, documents, AI-assisted features, feedback forms, notifications, and any related services we provide.
By creating an account, downloading the app, using the website, submitting information, starting a paid feature, or continuing to use the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.
If you use Leaving The Nest on behalf of someone else, an organisation, school, charity, care provider, or other entity, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for them and that they will follow these terms too.
2. What Leaving The Nest provides
Leaving The Nest provides practical independent-living tools for budgeting, tasks, notes, documents, education information, local resources, news, support links, and LifeNest AI-assisted planning.
The service is designed to help users organise everyday life admin and think through next steps. It is not a replacement for professional advice, emergency help, safeguarding services, financial advice, legal advice, medical care, counselling, education advice, social work support, or any regulated professional service.
We may add, change, pause, limit, or remove features where needed to improve the service, maintain security, meet legal or platform requirements, prevent misuse, or keep the service sustainable.
3. Eligibility, age, and responsible use
You must only use the service if you are legally allowed to do so in your location and can follow these terms.
Leaving The Nest may be useful to young people preparing for adulthood. If you are under the age required to manage your own online account in your region, you must have permission from a parent, guardian, carer, school, or responsible adult before using the service.
Adults who allow a young person to use the service are responsible for supervising appropriate use, helping them understand the content, and deciding whether the service is suitable for their circumstances.
4. Accounts and security
Some features require an account. You must provide accurate information, keep your login details secure, and tell us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You are responsible for activity on your account unless the activity was caused by our failure to use reasonable security measures.
We may refuse, suspend, restrict, or close an account where we reasonably believe the account is unsafe, fraudulent, abusive, inactive, in breach of these terms, required to be restricted by law, or harmful to other users or the service.
5. Your content and stored information
You may add information such as notes, tasks, budgets, education details, documents, feedback, support requests, prompts, and other content you choose to submit.
You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to host, store, back up, process, display, transmit, and use your content only as needed to provide, secure, support, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot the service.
You must not upload content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, invasive of privacy, infringing, misleading, malicious, or unsafe. You must not upload content that you do not have the right to use.
6. Budgeting, planning, education, support, and document features
Budget, planning, education, document, and support features are provided for general organisation and informational purposes only.
Any calculations, examples, reminders, resource links, guides, news items, or AI-generated suggestions may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your individual circumstances. You should check important information before relying on it.
You are responsible for decisions you make about money, housing, education, employment, benefits, immigration, health, safety, legal matters, relationships, and personal wellbeing. Where a decision matters, seek help from a qualified professional or trusted support organisation.
7. LifeNest AI-assisted features
LifeNest and other AI-assisted features may generate responses based on your prompts and available context. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, biased, outdated, or inappropriate for your situation.
LifeNest is a premium feature that uses the OpenAI API to generate chatbot responses. Prompts, conversation context, and related technical data may be sent to OpenAI for processing as explained in the LifeNest AI Terms & Privacy Details.
AI-assisted features must not be used for emergencies, crisis support, diagnosis, treatment, professional financial advice, legal advice, regulated advice, safeguarding decisions, or any decision where mistakes could cause serious harm.
Do not enter sensitive personal information, passwords, payment details, confidential third-party information, or emergency information into AI-assisted features unless it is necessary and appropriate. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before acting on it.
8. Emergencies and safeguarding
Leaving The Nest is not an emergency service and is not monitored as a crisis channel. Contact emergency services, a crisis line, a trusted adult, local authority support, police, medical services, or another appropriate organisation if you or someone else may be in immediate danger.
If we receive information that suggests serious harm, abuse, exploitation, self-harm, danger to another person, unlawful activity, or a safeguarding concern, we may take reasonable steps allowed by law, including restricting use, preserving records, or contacting appropriate services where required or permitted.
9. Payments, premium features, subscriptions, and refunds
Some features, including LifeNest or other premium tools, may require payment, an in-app purchase, or a subscription. Prices, trial periods, billing intervals, renewal terms, and available plans will be shown before purchase where required.
Purchases made through Google Play are also subject to Google Play terms, billing rules, cancellation processes, and refund policies. You are responsible for managing subscriptions through the Google Play account or payment method used to purchase them unless another payment flow is clearly provided.
Unless required by law or platform rules, payments for digital features may be non-refundable after access is provided. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but may not automatically refund past charges or remove access already granted for a paid period.
10. Acceptable use rules
You must use the service lawfully, respectfully, and only for its intended purpose.
You must not misuse the service by attempting to hack, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, bypass security, exploit bugs, interfere with other users, send spam, distribute malware, impersonate others, create fake accounts, harvest data, or use the service for illegal, abusive, exploitative, discriminatory, or harmful activity.
You must not use the service to develop competing datasets or products through automated extraction, to train AI models without permission, or to remove copyright notices, branding, security controls, or access restrictions.
11. Third-party services, stores, links, and content
The service may link to or rely on third-party providers, including app stores, hosting providers, authentication providers, analytics tools, AI providers, communication providers, news providers, resource websites, donation platforms, and external support organisations.
Third-party services are controlled by their own providers and may have their own terms, privacy notices, availability, pricing, security practices, content standards, and refund rules. We are not responsible for third-party services or content unless the law says otherwise.
Links to external resources are provided for convenience and do not mean that we endorse every statement, service, product, or organisation on those external sites.
12. Privacy and data protection
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored, shared, protected, and deleted. You should read it together with these terms.
By using the service, you acknowledge that we process personal information as described in the Privacy Policy and as needed to operate the service, protect users, meet legal obligations, and respond to requests.
13. Notifications and communications
We may send service messages, security alerts, support responses, account notices, product updates, reminders, and other communications connected with your use of the service.
Where notifications or marketing messages require consent, we will ask for consent where required and provide available controls to opt out. Some essential service or security messages may still be sent even if optional messages are turned off.
14. Intellectual property
The service, website, app design, software, branding, logos, text, layouts, guides, graphics, and other materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own lawful personal use. You must not copy, sell, license, modify, publish, distribute, or create derivative works from the service unless we give written permission or the law allows it.
15. Feedback and suggestions
If you send feedback, ideas, feature requests, bug reports, comments, or suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment to improve, develop, market, support, or operate the service.
You must only send feedback that you have the right to share and that does not include confidential information you do not want us to use.
16. Availability, updates, and support
We aim to keep the service useful and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanent access. The service may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, platform reviews, network problems, provider outages, security incidents, legal requirements, or other events outside our control.
We may release updates that add, change, or remove features. You may need to install updates to keep using the service safely. Support is provided through available contact channels but response times are not guaranteed.
17. Account deletion and ending use
You may stop using the service at any time. You may request account deletion through available account or contact tools. To protect your account, deletion requests may require identity or login verification.
Account deletion may remove or anonymise account data, but some records may be retained where required for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute handling, accounting, backups, or legitimate business records.
If you delete your account, uninstall the app, or stop using the service, you remain responsible for charges, obligations, and activity that occurred before deletion or cancellation.
18. Suspension and termination by us
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access immediately if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, created legal or security risk, misused the service, harmed another person, infringed rights, failed to pay charges, or used the service in a way that could damage Leaving The Nest or others.
Where appropriate and practical, we may give notice or an opportunity to fix the issue. We may not give notice where doing so would create risk, break the law, compromise security, or interfere with an investigation.
19. Disclaimers
The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We do not promise that the service will meet every need, produce a particular outcome, prevent harm, be suitable for every user, remain available forever, or that all content, calculations, AI output, links, news, documents, or resources will be accurate, complete, current, or error-free.
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited, including statutory consumer rights that apply in your location.
20. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary losses, including loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill, opportunity, savings, or business, arising from use of or inability to use the service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or, if you paid nothing, to a reasonable amount permitted by applicable law.
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
21. Indemnity
Where allowed by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your misuse of the service, breach of these terms, unlawful content, infringement of rights, or violation of law.
This does not apply where the claim was caused by our breach of these terms, negligence, or unlawful conduct.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users where practical. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept the changes, you must stop using the service and may request account deletion.
23. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales unless mandatory laws in your country or region require otherwise.
If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If the dispute cannot be resolved, courts or dispute bodies with legal authority in your location or under applicable law may handle the dispute.
Nothing in this section removes consumer rights, local mandatory rights, or rights to complain to a regulator where those rights apply.
24. General legal terms
If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply and the invalid part will be treated as changed only as much as needed to make it valid and enforceable.
If we do not enforce a right immediately, that does not mean we give up that right. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our permission. We may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, sale of assets, legal requirement, or service transfer, provided your legal rights remain protected.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any purchase or feature-specific terms shown to you, form the agreement between you and us for use of the service.
